J.Basanavicius street and the sea bridge is the most popular strolling place in Palanga. It is full of cafes and entertainment. Evening strolls to see the sunset is old and popular tradition among vacationers.
 
 Palanga botanic park is situated at the south end of Vytauto street. It is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved parks by Eduard Rene Andre, famous French landscape architect, designed at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. It is a popular strolling place.
 
 The Tiskeviciai palace, the present Amber Museum tel (+370 460) 53 501. The palace is situated in the middle of the botanic park and currently is the home for one of the most valuable amber museums. The museum has the world's biggest collection of amber inclusions.
 
 Birute hill is located in the south west of the Amber Museum. This hill has a romantic history. It used to be a pagan sanctuary and the observatory of celestial bodies. Today it is a peaceful and quiet place, especially popular among infatuated couples. At the foot of the hill there is a Lurd initiated by earl Tiskevicius. In summertime poetry readings are held here. From the top of Birute hill you can enjoy a broad sea panorama.

 This is a house of a well-known doctor, who was an active member of Lithuanian National Revival movement and the mayor of Palanga. Here you will find the exhibition of J.Sliupas activity and history of Palanga.
 
 Antanas Moncys Home-Museum S.Daukanto street 16, LT-5720 Palanga tel (8~460) 49 366, e-mail muzmoncio@is.lt  A.Moncys was born in Palanga area, during the World War II he exiled to France and created many original art work there. In the museum there is an exhibition of his wooden sculptures, drawings, clay whistles and masks made from industrial waste. You may touch the exhibits, as this was their author's will.

 It borders the botanic park in Klaipeda direction. Here you can find desolate and clean beaches, pedestrian and bicycle routes, many rare plants and a great variety of birds. Entomologists have counted up to 271 sort of butterflies here!
 
 The Samogitian Alka is a copy of a paleoastronomic observatory which was built on Birute hill in the XV c. AD. It was rebuilt in 1998 in the north from Sventoji setllement, 200 meters from "Energetikas" health center. Here you can observe the sunset to the sea and fix the main calendar holidays accordingly.
